After a series of postponements, the much awaited national Football Kenya Federation elections go down today at the Safaricom Moi International Sports Complex.

The elections had been postponed on three occasions and there were fears today’s exercise would follow the same course.

The polls were initially meant for last October 13 but were pushed to December 14, then to December 22 before arriving at today’s final date.

The FKF Electoral Board secretary Irene Tindi said the polls will go on as scheduled today.

“We are on course, the election will be held tomorrow (this) morning,” said Tindi.

She said the elections will be free and fair since there are no pending appeals at the lower levels.

“We had delays since we had to ensure that all the appeals were taken care of. All these were meant to give room for the due course. We had to give room for democracy and we are good to go,” added Tindi.

While on a tour of the poll venue, the MISC Kasarani Indoor Arena, the electoral board also gave the facility the green light to host the exercise and revealed it will also be the tallying centre.

She said 77 delegates will vote, one less than earlier projected given that the Women’s Association could not raise a delegate since it is still non-existent.
