FORMER Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has been summoned to court to plead to charges of giving false information linking the son of former President Daniel Moi to a Sh50 million land fraud case.

Milimani chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo yesterday directed that Jirongo appears in court on Friday.

He will plead to charges of obtaining execution of security by false pretence, giving false information to a person employed in the public service and uttering a false document.

Prosecutor Eveline Makia applied for the summons against Jirongo on alleged offences he committed between 1992 and 2015.

She told the court that following comprehensive investigations, they are now ready to have Jirongo formally charged.

According to court papers, Jirongo told Sgt Maxwell Otieno he paid Sh7 Million to Jonathan Moi as an alleged balance of payment for purchase of Soy Developers Ltd.

He allegedly said so at CID headquarters, Nairobi, on March 27 last year.

Jirongo is also accused of inducing Post Bank Credit Ltd to accept bank charges on September 25, 1992, for a land registered in the name of Soy Developers Ltd.
