Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula wants the government to give out the number of KDF soldiers killed in Somalia.

Speaking in Kitale town on Saturday, the Ford Kenya leader said the families of the soldiers killed on January 15 in El Adde need to know the fate of their relatives.

He said Bungoma county has lost 12 soldiers but the government is yet to make it public.

“Let the government not give out names but give us the figures. Five of those killed in Bungoma are from Mt Elgon, while the rest are from other parts of the county,” Wetang’ula said.

The Kenya Defence Forces is yet to confirm the number of slain soldiers but the Somalia-based terror group said 100.

Al Shabaab said it took over the base, about 550 km west of Mogadishu.

The Senate minority leader faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta over the manner in which he handled the soldiers’ deaths.

“It is painful that when our KDF soldiers were killed, the president was in Mombasa engaging in political campaigns,” Wetang’ula said.
