All the 47 county assemblies resume sittings today after the Christmas vacation.

Just like the National Assembly, the MCAs will reconstitute house committees.

They will discuss the state-of-the-county addresses to be delivered by governors.

Kakamega speaker Morris Buluma told the Star yesterday Governor Wycliffe Oparanya will address the assembly next week.

Oparanya, the Council of Governors finance chairman, is involved in preparing for the county bosses’ summit in Nairobi this week.

Buluma said the assembly will discuss the Auditor General’s report on county spending. Oparanya refused to appear before the Senate to respond to audit queries, arguing the assembly had not deliberated on the Auditor General’s findings.

He has moved to the Court of Appeal to stop his prosecution.

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko accused Oparanya of disobeying summons by the Senate.
