Mammy Runiga, a sister to the late Angela Chibalonza, is no more. She was found dead in her house in Nairobi's Nyayo Estate over the weekend. According to her house help Atieno, the late was well when she returned home last Friday and only complained of having a cold. She sent Atieno to get her some medicine but couldn't find any.
"I walked all over but I couldn't find the specific medication she wanted. When I came back, she told me her nose is congested and she needs to take the medicine without fail."
On Saturday things worsened, and Atieno was forced to get the medicine for her boss, and when she came back, Mammy asked her to light a charcoal jiko to boil drinking water. She was further instructed to take the jiko to the bathroom as she wanted to use the steam from the boiling water to clear her blocked nose.
After sometime, one of Mammy's daughters wanted to use the bathroom but it was engaged. She knocked on the door severally but there was no answer. She went on to call Atieno who also called friends and neighbours to help them open the bathroom door where they found Mammy had collapsed.
She was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital but breathed her last on arrival. Mammy's sister, the late , died in a road crash back in 2008. Embakasi OCPD Apollo Wanyonyi assured the family that they are investigating to find out what caused Mammy's death. Keep it here for more updates.
