The High Court yesterday allowed Senator Mike Sonko and the Nairobi government to participate in a suit filed by a Pakistani fighting to build a mall at the Loresho water reservoir.

Justice Joseph Onguto ruled Sonko and the county should join Shital Bhandari’s suit as interested parties.

Sonko told the court he will be greatly affected by the court orders, being the senator of Nairobi, where the suit property is.

The case will be mentioned next Wednesday.

Bhandari obtained orders last December, restraining the government from repossessing the land, pending determination of the suit.

Similarly, Sonko and Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi obtained orders blocking the developer from taking over the land containing a reservoir serving Spring Valley and Loresho.
