Two Kajiado governor aspirants nearly came to blows in Eselenkei, Loitokitok, after they called each other a failure and a land grabber.

They are former Interior CS Joseph ole Lenku and businessman Daniel Nina.

Nina told Lenku he is a failure and has no moral authority to vie for the seat.

“The people of Kajiado cannot entrust that seat to you because you will mess this county like you did the Interior ministry,” he said.

However, Lenku said he was not sacked but he resigned.

He turned to Nina and accused him of grabbing residents’ land.

“I am better placed than you because you are a thief. You have stolen land in Kimana that belong to a group ranch,” Lenku said.

Hundreds of families have become squatters in their own land because you stole their shares and sold them out.

The former CS then pointed a finger at Nina and told him: “You will be charged in Heaven for what you did to your people and do not think God is blind. You will repay all these sins in hell.”

At this point Nina jumped up to his feet and started towards Lenku.

Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito got between the two and snatched the microphone from Lenku as members of Eselekei Group Ranch rushed to separate them.

The leaders were at the launch of a CDF water project on Wednesday.

Those present said the two have not seen eye-to-eye since Lenku announced his bid in Lenkisim mid last month.

Area MCA Sayianka Kosei blamed Nina, saying he should not have provoked Lenku.

Lenku’s aide Philip Simanka told the Star his boss was provoked.

“He [Nina] was told the truth and as you know, many people do not like the truth,” he said.

Nina’s brother and Kimana MCA James Kuya yesterday said his brother rarely acts the way he did on Wednesday.

“He is always a cool person and rarely is he aroused by what people say about him,” he said.

Both Lenku and Nina come from the Ilkisonko subsection of the Kajiado Maasai under the umbrella of the Orokiteng clan.
