El Adde KDF soldier buried in Tigania East

A Kenya Defence Forces officer killed in the January 15 al Shabaab ambush in El Adde, Somalia, has been buried in Karachi, Tigania East.

Corporal David Muthuri was eulogised on Wednesday as a friendly, honest, courageous and industrious soldier.

Muthuri had served for 12 years.

He was among the 9th Eldoret Battalion deployed to Somalia.

Last respects and guard of honour by his fellow soldiers included a 21-gun salute, blowing of a cornet and folding of a flag.

Col Paul Mwasi, who carried out the military funeral service, said the soldier was his friend and had a promising career.

He thanked the the family and friends for their patience and humility in the wake of the El Adde attack.

“I know it has taken time since the incident occurred but I thank people of this area,” Mwasi said.

“Muthuri was an honest Christian and a close friend. Soon we will come for another hero.”

Muthuri’s uncle, Daniel Rukunga, urged other relatives of troops in Somalia to pray for them.
