Women have been urged to watch what they eat and exercise regularly to reduce chances of getting diseases.

Deputy President William Ruto’s wife spoke at a Joyful Women Organization (JoyWo) chairladies meeting in Embu county.

"Cancer, high blood pressure and diabetes are some of the diseases caused by poor eating lifestyle," Rachel Ruto said.

In the meeting hosted by Senator Lenny Kivuti’s wife Hilda at their Kanyaumbora home, Rachel encouraged women to engage in income generating projects.

She congratulated women in Embu county for being active participants of table banking and appealed to them to utilise locally available opportunities within their regions.

Rachel urged participants to take advantage of the 30 per cent government tenders set aside for youth, women and persons with disability.

"Take advantage of the 30 per cent government tenders that keeps growing every year," she said.

"Let’s do business. If you want to succeed in table banking you must do business."

The DP's wife asked the women to consider value addition in their agri-business ventures that could reduce losses, citing mango products which are perishable.
