Three suspected robbers killed in Ngara, AK 47 rifle, bullets found

Three suspected thugs were killed in a shootout after police thwarted a robbery in Ngara, Nairobi, on Wednesday.

Nairobi commander Japheth Koome said members of the public informed officers on patrol of a plan by the suspects

to steal from shops at Park road area.

Koome said the officers trailed the suspects using the registration number of the vehicle they were using.

"The men saw the officers and began shooting at them. Police retaliated, killing them," he told The Star on phone on Wednesday.

Koome said AK 47 rifle, 12 bullets and assorted stolen items were found following the shootout at about midday.

The bodies were taken to City mortuary.

Police have shot suspected robbers dead in several incidents in the city since the New Year.

On January 19, two suspected thugs were shot dead after in Eastleigh estate.

A day later, in a foiled robbery at Milano hotel along Ronald Ngala Street.
