Aden Duale has dared Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta's portrait in his office with the Opposition chief's.

Rasanga said all 24 Cord Governors should demonstrate honour to the coalition's leadership by hanging leader Raila Odinga's portrait in their offices.

“Rasanga must know that it is only the portrait of President Uhuru Kenyatta that can be put in any public place. I dare him to replace it,” said National Assembly Majority leader Duale.

“He can put as many as a thousand portraits of Raila in his house, on his bed and sleep on them or even worship them."

The Garissa Town MP, who termed Rasanga's statement

"reckless" and amounting to hate speech, said the Governor should hold off on his call until Raila becomes President.

He led Jubilee leaders, who want

over the remark, in condemning him.

JAP national vice chairperson David Murathe noted that it is illegal for any Kenyan to demand the replacement of the President’s portrait with that of a leader who has not been elected. There is no law requiring the president's portrait

in offices.

“He should be in by now [sic]. This reckless talk must not be tolerated. Action must be taken for any leader and individual to respect the Presidency," he told The Star on phone on Monday.

URP activist George Ayugi said the President must be protected at all costs as he is a symbol of national unity.

URP youth league Vice President Victor Ayugi cautioned leaders against making statements that he termed derogatory and reckless, adding the law must take its course.
