Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu was at the center of a scuffle with rowdy youths on the steps of the High Court in Mombasa on Wednesday.

A video originally aired by QTV shows Waititu pushing away a placard being held by a protester outside the court.

The irate protester elbowed Waititu in the stomach before the legislator kicked at him and later at another protester.

Waititu was in Mombasa along with other MPs from Kiambu county to show support for blogger Anthony Njoroge Mburu was was facing charges of misuse of a communication gadget.

Mburu in a post had alleged that Kiambu county governor William Kabogo was facilitating the influx of cheap eggs from outside the county.

Farmers in the county said the alleged move was giving rise to undue competition that was forcing them out of business.

Mburu further linked the agreement to Seacross Farm, a large-scale poultry farm in Kwale county which eventually sued the blogger over his allegations.

The blogger was arrested in Kiambu and taken to Mombasa to face the charges.

Following the hearing of the case, the presiding judge Nicholas Njagi dismissed the suit saying there was insufficient evidence to charge Mburu for the alleged offence.

After the dismissal of the suit, Waititu and other MPs from Kiambu county went outside the court to issues a statement, but were disrupted by youths who said Mburu's allegations were damning to the business which they depend on for their livelihood.

It was then that the scuffle ensued forcing police to step in to quell the tension.

Waititu who is no stranger to controversy when reached for comment, said his actions were in retaliation to the affront by the demonstrating youths.

Waititu faulted Kabogo for the disruption and said he and other leaders will continue to fight for the plight of residents of the county.
