Karachuonyo MP James Rege has laid a foundation stone for the construction of a Sh17 million dormitory at Mawego Girls Secondary School.

Rege said the one-storey building will solve accommodation problems for the girls and save the school funds used to rent a makeshift dormitory.

The school has a population of more than 700 students.

The administration hires a hall from the neighbouring Mawego Catholic mission to use as a dormitory.

“We shall make sure the project is built to completion,” Rege said on Tuesday.

He was with Karachuonyo CDF chairperson Pacifika Kobe, public relations officer Jack Nduri and the school’s management committee chairman Hippo Komutho.

Rege said leaders must shun disruptive politics and focus on development.

The MP, who was touring development projects, opened a science laboratory at St John’s Seka Mixed Secondary School.

He also officially opened classrooms built by CDF cash at Kobuya Primary School.
