AN Embu trader is alleged to have murdered his six-yea-old son yesterday, then poisoned himself in attempted suicide, following a dispute with his wife.

Robert Mukuria allegedly slaughtered his son Pius with a kitchen knife at Bonanza village in Embu town, Embu West subcounty.

He was found unconscious after swallowing poison, Embu West police boss Francis Sang said.

The police boss told the Star Mukuria had fled with the boy following a Monday night quarrel with his wife Jackline.

Sang said Jackline reported to police and they escorted her back home.

He said on arrival, they found Mukuria had returned to the house and severed the boy's neck with a kitchen knife.

Sang said the wife fainted and the couple was rushed to hospital.
