THE National Hospital Insurance Fund will blacklist hospitals offering substandard services.

CEO Simeon Kirgotty yesterday said the hospitals that lack of facilities for treating patients will be struck from its list.

He said the NHIF board has signed contracts with hospitals to offer excellent services.

“Some proprietors have given reasons that they are in far-flung areas which have limited facilities but what we need is good services for our members,” Kirgotty said.

He also expressed concern over the increase of caesarean sections.

The NHIF boss said 42 per of cent pregnant women undergo C-Section instead of normal delivery.

Kirgotty spoke at Green Hills Hotel in Nyeri town during a health forum.

Participants included contributors and health providers from Central region.

A similar meeting continues today, involving employers from Central region.

The CEO and his team will later head to Nakuru and the Coast region.

The NHIF has a list of hospitals and health service providers – including dispensaries and health centres – from which members can select where to go for treatment and medical emergencies.
