Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has sacked Environment minister Evans Ondieki, days after his government.

"This is to inform you that Ondieki has ceased to be the County executive in charge of Environment with immediate effect," read the dismissal letter.

Kidero also appointed Urban Renewals and Housing CEC Tom Odongo to replace Ondieki in an acting capacity.

No reason was given for the sacking.

Last week, Kidero shuffled his team in what he said would "ensure efficient service delivery to Nairobi residents".

In the reshuffle, the governor split the Housing, Lands and Planning docket, which was headed by Odongo, into two.

In 2014, Kidero was the county executive, who was facing an impeachment case in court.

Ondieki was impeached by MCAs for alleging in the media that some had been bribed by cartels to fight the County government’s initiative to introduce modern buses in the City to ease traffic.
