A woman died while nine people were injured on Sunday
when a matatu they were travelling in veered off Iten-Kabarnet road
and rolled several times.
The accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control on the sloppy Kolol area on the border of Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties.
The driver was among those injured, Keiyo North subcounty police boss Fredrick Ochieng' said, adding the woman died at the scene.
Ochieng' said
the matatu that was heading to Kabarnet town may have developed mechanical problems.
“Drivers should ensure their vehicles are in good condition. We suspect this accident was as a result of faulty brakes,” he said.
Those injured were taken to Iten County Referral Hospital and the body to the facility's mortuary.
