Kisii's Ongwae launches pioneer trade summit

the Kisii government will host its first entrepreneurship summit, KES-2016, on February 24-26 at the Kisii University grounds.

The theme of the summit is Tapping the Trade and Investment Opportunities in Kisii County.

The objective of the summit is to provide a platform to showcase to local, regional and international investors opportunities within the county.

It also aims to provide a networking platform to domestic, regional and international investors.

Speaking yesterday during a media launch at a Nairobi hotel, Governor James Ongwae said the county has identified trade and investment potentials.

“I challenge all investors to take full advantage of the summit by committing to take up viable investments opportunities derived from local resources,” he said.

Ongwae said the county will support public and private partnerships.

He said value addition, trade and investments will transform Kisii county into a middle-income economy.

The summit is organised by the county government in conjunction with Ultum Mega.

It is expected to attract participants from finance, education, trade, NGOs and government.

Ongwae said Kisii is a resource-rich county with immense potential in mining, agriculture, industries, tourism and hospitality.

The county is positioning itself to become an economic hub, he said.

Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said: “The summit will showcase different investment opportunities in the county to woo entrepreneurs.”

The summit is expected to draw more than 300 participants.
