Our commander in chief also kicks off his shoes and relaxes when he is not in front of the camera dealing with national issues. President Uhuru Kenyatta is known to frequent Maasai Club and Restaurant located in Nyali opposite Nyali Reef Hotel.

During his Mombasa visit, Uhuru was a constant guest at the place. Despite him being a VVIP, the club was not closed to normal patrons.

On Tuesday, after he addressed Mtwapa residents, Uhuru went to the restaurant for an evening meal.

Word Is, is told he ordered ugali, mbuzi choma and spinach on the side.

He downed his food with bottled Keringet water.

He was accompanied by Cabinet sectaries Kiunjuri Irungu and Eugene Wamalwa, flamboyant Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, his PA Jomo Gecaga, renowned top businessman Peter Njogu Waweru, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro, TNA Chair Johnson Sakaja among other people.

The euphoric club owner, Mack Somon also known by his street moniker Famous Maasai, described the president as a "down to earth person" who later "mingled with other patrons

and shook hands and obliged them with selfies".

The joint is loved by Nairobi revellers who frequent it before they head to Bobs Bar to binge drink. However, patrons of the club tell Word Is, it is a popular joint for celebrities, businessmen and politicians who want to have quality food and hold informal meetings.
