The Tana River water company has trouble supplying water due to power rationing.

Technical manager Salim Makorani said some areas have not received water since a power generator broke last week.

This has disrupted water at Hola District Hospital.

At Mau Mau Girls Boarding School, students are reported to be on a go-slow over lack of water.

The firm’s MD Adan Absiya said the Water ministry is aware of the problem.

He said he was directed by the Water CS Eugene Wamalwa to buy an emergency stand-by unit.

“We will ensure every area receives pumped water when we have power at our pumping station... We will pump when we get power,” Absiya said.

The water pumped at Hola supplies the entire Tana River, with a rationing interval of a day.

It has now been more than three days.

The Kenya Power generator broke down on Monday last week, leading to power shortage.

Kenya Power county business manager Joseph Ndegwa said they will get another generator in two weeks.
