Gatunguru Tea Factory’s recently elected director Peter Mwangi and a woman were shot dead on Thursday night on the Chaka-Nyeri highway.
Gangsters on a boda boda accosted him as he drove and sprayed more than 40 bullets at his car.
Kieni East deputy commissioner James Chacha said the woman died on the spot while Mwangi was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Mwangi was elected director of the factory in Murang’a county last week and was also a businessman.
The bodies were taken to the Nyeri Referral Hospital mortuary.
Chacha said police are investigating.
