Three North Rift governors are urging the ICC to withdraw the case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang.

They are Cleophas Lagat (Nandi), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu).

The three accompanied Ruto to the Hague “to show our solidarity with the DP”.

“We know the case they face is fabricated and has no basis,” Lagat told the Star on the phone yesterday.

He said Ruto advocates peace and stability and his case should be terminated so he can concentrate on serving the country.

“We hope and pray the judges will agree with his lawyers on the fact that the DP and Sang have no case to answer and should be let free,” Lagat said.

The governors have been under pressure from Jubilee to support Ruto by attending prayer rallies.

But Lagat said North Rift governors have always supported Ruto.

Mandago has criticised the ICC saying: “We cannot have Ruto and Sang suffering for things they never did.”
