Elections board finally set date for FKF national polls

February 10th is the new date for the often postponed Football Kenya Federation national elections as the FKF Electoral board released its latest schedule for all levels of the highly anticIpated football polls.

Despite the unresolved complaints from sub branches most notably the Ijara sub branch who raised the red flag over a plan to omit their delegates from taking part in the North Eastern South branch and subsequently the national elections, the board set aside tomorrow as the day for the repeat polls in three sub branches and the branch elections on January 26.

“We are pleased to state that the sub branch elections were successfully conducted and only three out of seven appeals received orders for repeat polls. The board has rescheduled new dates for the completion of elections of the sub

branch by elections branch and national elections being those if date 14th, 26th January and 10th February respectively,” opened the electoral board statement signed by chairman Donald Kipkorir.

Amidst misgivings from some quarters the board reiterated that the elections held and and those that continue to be held are done in the most transparent manner.

Further the statement revealed the new dates have been formed with a window for complaints and appeals to be addressed.

“We have staggered up dates to enable full participation of stakeholders and for any complaints that may rise to be solved,” concluded the statement.

For stakeholders who have grown weary after several postponements of the polls the new dates will only carry importance if the polls are held within the stipulated time.

“In as much as we want everyone to have his right of taking part in the polls maintained we urge the board to do all within their power to ensure that the dates

they have set now are respected and the elections held as scheduled,” advised FKF Nec aspirant for Rift Valley Moses Kamalik.

Should the polls go on as per the latest schedule unveiled by the FKF board then Kenya will be represented at the Fifa congress to elect the new Fifa president by a federation president with new mandate.

Incumbent Sam Nyamweya is facing a stiff challenge in his quest to hold onto the seat he captured in 2011 with Kariobangi Sharks supremo Nick Mwendwa, Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, former

international footballer and FKFs vice president from the previous elections Sammy Sholei, Re Union boss and entepreneur Gor Semelango as well as Ssemi Aina all angling to replace him.
