Homa Bay ODM officials want those aggrieved in the recent grassroots elections to face the party National Tribunal Resolutions committee.

ODM party grassroots elections in Homa Bay county were on December 1 disrupted when gunshots were fired.

There was a confrontation between two rival camps that differed over lists of delegates.

One faction was allied to Homa Bay woman representative Gladys Wanga and the other to Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.

On December 27, ODM reorganised its Nyanza branches and declared Wanga chairperson.

ODM gave Kaluma the post of organising secretary, a position he declined to take.

Officials have said they are unhappy with constant leadership wrangles in the branch party office.

They spoke during their first executive committee meeting chaired by Wanga at a hotel in Homa Bay town on Friday.

In a statement read by county secretary Oyugi Magwanga, officials said Kaluma’s faction should submit their grievances to the party national tribunal for electoral disputes.

They said party grassroots elections are over and all supporters must ensure peace prevails.

“ODM set a clear channel of handing election disputes through its tribunal committee,” the statement says.

The officials expressed confidence in Wanga as the National Elections Board confirmed county ODM chair and pledged to work with her.

They resolved to ensure Homa Bay ODM supporters largely apply for ID and voters cards ahead of 2017.

Wanga said she welcomes Kaluma on board to develop ODM together.

“We want to make ODM more popular here. I ask my brother Kaluma to come so that we move as a team,” she said.

Kabondo Kasipul MP Silvance Osele appealed to Kaluma’s team to join Wanga and accept the offer.
