JUBILEE governors, MPs and senators in the Rift Valley are planning a major campaign for the newly formed Jubilee Party.

The leaders have been holding consultations to market JP ahead of its launch in March.

URP politician in Eldoret Stephen Mugwira is among those opposed to the JP merger, he said yesterday.

Bomet Senator Isaac Rutto formed Mashinani Development Party of Kenya to oppose JP.

But a section of URP youth leaders in the region have vowed to campaign for the JP and back the Deputy President

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and his Turbo counterpart Elisha Busienei back the JP party.

“JP is the way to go. We will explain to our people why we must have a strong party to unite all Kenyans,” Sudi told the Star on the phone.

Kerio Youth Association chairman Joel Kimaiyo said they will support JP and campaign to popularise it this year.

“As youth, we stand with Ruto and we support the direction he is taking for the unity of this country,” said Kimaiyo, who was speaking at the Star office in Eldoret yesterday.

Uasin Gishu assembly speaker Isaac Terer and patron of TNA Joseph Wainaina said the region would back re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto through JP.

“It’s a winning formula that will unite Kenyans instead of having so many parties,” Terer said.

Terer and Wainaina said those opposing JP would be swept aside when time comes because it would be largely embraced.

The two spoke to the Star in Eldoret town yesterday.

“As said by the DP it’s important that we dissolve the small parties and move to JP where we will accommodate all Kenyans,” Wainaina said.

Turbo MP Elisha Busienei also told the Star on the phone that as MPs from the region, they will back Uhuru, Ruto and JP.
