ODM rebels campaigning against the party in the Malindi by-election should defect, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said.

Speaking to the press in his office yesterday, Kingi, the county ODM chairman, said the rebels are breaking the law.

“Before the Political Parties Act came into being, politicians would hop from one party to another,” he said.

“They would amplify the values of other political parties without consequence, but that time is long gone.”

Some 16 aspirants are eyeing the Malindi seat vacated by Dan Kazungu last month after his appointment as Mining CS.

ODM legislators Gideon Mung’aro of Kilifi North and Kilifi South’s Mustapha Iddi are working with Jubilee “for the sake of development”.

They met Deputy President William Ruto at Pwani University last Saturday and pledged to help Jubilee win the Malindi seat.

They said the opposition has nothing to offer the region in terms of development.
