The appointment of board members for two national schools in Elgeyo Marakwet county has been cancelled as national representation was overlooked.
St Patrick’s High School, Iten, and Moi Girls Kapsowar High School have been instructed to reconstitute new boards of management and forward the names for approval by the Education ministry.
“They have until January 15 to do so,” said Simeon Murkomen, acting county director of Education in Elgeyo Marakwet.
He told journalists in Iten town yesterday since the two are national schools, the BOMs must have a national outlook.
“It’s a strict government requirement that must be complied with and that is why we have asked them to reconstitute the BOMs,” Murkomen said.
The requirement affects all national schools.
St Patrick’s Iten had forwarded names, including that of Dr Chris Kiptoo as chairman.
He was recently appointed International Trade PS.
