West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has challenged Kanu to expel him for his good ties with the government.

Kanu secretary general Nick Salat warned Kachapin and other “rebels” of harsh consequences “for going against party decisions”.

But speaking at Wakor, Pokot Central, during a funds drive on Saturday, Kachapin said he will continue working with Jubilee.

He said working with the government is good for the West Pokot residents.

Kachapin said Kanu signed a deal to work with the government and those at the frontline should not be witch-hunted.

“I cannot be threatened by party because I was elected to serve my people,” he said.

Kachapin said those speaking against him are out to settle political scores.

Working with Jubilee does not make one a rebel, the governor said.

West Pokot woman representative Regina Nyeris said it is time for the Pokot community to work with the government to spur development.

“We have seen fruits of this government. Those against it have their own selfish agenda,” she said.
