THE Kenya Airports Authority has started to upgrade three airstrips in Nyanza region to complement the Sh3 billion refurbished Kisumu International Airport.

The authority has commenced works at Kabunde airstrip in Homa Bay county.

The airstrip will cost Sh200 million.

KAA acting managing director Yatich Kangugo said they will also rehabilitate Migwena airstrip in Bondo, Siaya county and Suneka in Kisii county to “unlock multi-million business opportunities in the region.”

“The Kabunde airstrip is contracted to Glanack Investment Limited Company,” he said.

Kangugo was speaking at the Kisumu International Airport yesterday during a stakeholders briefing on unlocking multi-million business opportunities in Kisumu City.

He said facilities at the airport include offices, flying schools, hangers, freight terminals and related financial services and industries.

He was accompanied by the Kisumu Airport manager Joseph Okumu and Best Western CEO Kaushik Manek.
