The High Court will today visit a site in Kinango, Kwale county, where a 14-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by police officers.

Kwekwe Mwandaza was shot by two police officers in her uncle’s home in Kwale on August 22 last year.

The police were allegedly pursuing her uncle, George Zani, over a murder case.

The visit was scheduled so that two children who are key witnesses in the case can explain to the court what transpired.

The court was told that the two children, cousins of Kwekwe, can better explain what happened when at the scene.

The two cousins said they were in the house when Kwekwe was killed.

Their testimonies contradicted the police version of events, reporting that the officers burst into their house at night after breaking down their door.

They said the police lobbed teargas into the house and as the family choked in the fumes, they opened fire.

One cousin said Kwekwe was shot in bed.

But the police have said Kwekwe was killed when she attacked officers with a panga.
