TWO people were yesterday arrested in Kisii in connection with the disappearance of a taxi driver last Friday. Area OCPD Tom Mutisya said that police have launched investigations to apprehend more suspects behind the disappearance of Elijah Onchiri Omosa.  On Wednesday taxi drivers operating in the area staged a demonstration over the mysterious disappearance of  Omosa, six days after he was hired by unknown people.

Omosa 32, was hired at 12 noon to an unspecified destination and since then he has never been seen. The victim’s elder brother Job Omosa said he unsuccessfully tried to reach his brother on phone. “I suspected that something was wrong when I called my brother only to find his phone off. We have tried to locate him but in vain,” he said.

Cases where, unknown people hire taxi drivers to unspecified places but end up killing or stealing their vehicles have been on the rise in Kisii. Following Omosa’s disappearance the infuriated drivers arrested a man in connection with the disappearance alleging that he is one of those behind these cases. Joseph Mong’are recounted how three people that had hired him turned out to be thugs.
