Kakamega distributes Sh700m farm inputs to boost production

Barasa says the move will boost food production and encouraged farmers to use improved farm inputs for better harvests

Kakamega government has distributed farm inputs worth Sh703 million to farmers.

Governor Fernandes Barasa, said the farm inputs, which include, subsidised fertiliser, pesticides and climate-resilient maize seeds, have been distributed to all farmers in the 60 Wards.

“We have used Sh703 million on subsidised fertiliser and another Sh9 million on fish feeds,” he said.

Barasa said the move will boost food production and encouraged farmers to use improved farm inputs for better harvests.

“We have purchased these farm inputs to benefit our people and increase food production. I encourage all farmers to buy the inputs from Ward Administrators' offices,” he said.

The governor spoke at Marama South Ward during a fertiliser distribution programme.

Barasa assured farmers of better yields adding that the fertiliser had been approved by the agricultural department.
