Attorney General Justin Muturi has slammed road users over negligence saying this contributes to the rising road carnage.

The AG said drivers have ignored refresher courses that have proved to protect lives.

Speaking during the first graduation ceremony of the proposed Kenya Anglican University at the ACK Mbeere Learning Centre in Embu County, in partnership with All Nations Christian International (ANCCI) University of Texas, the Attorney General said it’s high time Kenyan drivers protect other road users.

The AG quoted Article 10 of the Constitution which he said requires Kenyans to apply national values.

“In this country, everyone is alarmed by the deaths attributed to road accidents. When our drivers are requested to attend the retest process they refuse, drivers respond by saying they have been driving for many years. But what if they’ve been doing the wrong thing, is it worth talking about?” He said.

He said road users should embrace the basics that were taught in driving schools.

“I’m not saying this out of nothing but trying to emphasize on the need for every road user to maintain the basic rules on the road to minimize the number of casualties on our roads,” Muturi said.

He said there’s no exception between public service vehicles and private owners.
