Mental health has become a bigger issue of concern that is finally being seen and recognised. 

On the topic of mental health, a lot of people do not know they can cope when going through a state of mental breakdown.

When one is going through tough moments that are taking a toll on their mental well-being, there are several ways they can go through the situation to stop the situation from becoming worse.

Here are some of the tips by the National Syndemic Disease Control Council;

Getting regular exercises: Exercises are known to help the body and boost immunity which in turn creates a healthy immune system.

Eating healthy and staying hydrated: Consumption of good food and diets that contain nutrients assist the body create a positive outcome mentally. Hydrating the body also helps improve one's mood, improves memory and attention. 

Making sleep a priority: Prioritising sleep and having a recommended 8-hour sleep gives the body and brain enough energy to be fully active when needed. 

Setting goals and celebrating little achievements: When one has clear and outlined goals, it acts as motivation which steers one to a good start and a stable mindset as one knows what is required of oneself.

Practice gratitude: A grateful heart goes a long way, being able to recognise one's blessings and what one has creates a better outlook in one's life. 

Focus on positivity: Life has a lot of ups and downs but overall, having a positive mindset helps an individual as all things will get better eventually.

Stay connected to colleagues, friends and family: By being in close communication with people you talk to, it creates a good way to stabilise one's individual mental health.

Reach out when stressed: Whenever you feel stressed out, reach out and seek help and support from colleagues, friends, and family. Never give up on your journey to healing and happiness.
