Football Kenya Federation has waived entry charges for Junior Starlets' FifaU17 World Cup qualifier second leg match against Ethiopia on Sunday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The move aims to draw supporters as the Junior Starlets chase a historic qualification for the World Cup in October 16-November 3 in the Dominican Republic.
The first leg of the qualifier, held at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, ended in a goalless draw, setting the stage for an electrifying return leg in Nairobi.
In a statement, FKF emphasised the importance of local support for the U17 side, announcing that the gates will open to the public at 9 am.
“To ignite massive support and create an electrifying atmosphere, FKF has made a bold move by waiving all gate charges for this match. Gates open to the public at 9 am,” the statement read.
"The Junior Starlets are on a mission to etch their names in history as the first Kenyan team to secure a spot in a Fifa World Cup."
Fans are encouraged to share their goodwill messages and cheer on the team via social media using the hashtag #GoStarlets.
FKF has invited affiliate clubs, schools and youth academies, encouraging them to support the team. These groups will have a designated seating area, showcasing the unity and inclusivity fostered by football in Kenya.
The aggregate winner from Sunday’s clash will face Burundi in the fourth and final stage of the qualifiers.
Burundi demolished Djibouti 18-0 victory, setting the stage for a tough challenge for whoever wins Sunday's encounter.
