Trans Nzoia coach Solomon Kimalewa is confident his charges will put their best foot forward in their Kenya Handball Federation league matches this weekend.

The Kitale-based youngsters had a solid outing last weekend despite having a lean bench. They had a win, a draw and a loss.

Kimalewa said that the team, 12th in the league, got a big boost after Geoffrey Kimtai, Gibson Luyari and Ivan Kibet joined the training.

They will team up with Kevin Wasike, Dan Ngoni and Collins Simiyu to lead the team’s points assault to shore up their 18 for the season.

They have a date with title hopefuls Ulinzi and Technical University of Kenya (TUK) on Saturday and Daystar University and Equity Bank on Sunday.

“We had a good outing. The team, despite not being a full house, gave their all in tough matches,” said Kimalewa.

Trans Nzoia beat Buccaneers 41-34, came from five goals down in the second half to hold General Service Unit (GSU) 31-31 and lost 25-34 to Boomerang.

“The boys had a strong showing against GSU, one of the top four teams in the league. The match drained them as they fell to Boomerang in a game they had hoped to win,” he said.

“We have been in Nairobi since and have had no time to train. Three players have also joined us, which gives me good bench power.”

Bungoma-based Rangers are in the city to play GSU and National Youth Service (NYS) on Saturday. They meet Ulinzi and Buccaneers on Sunday.

Rangers (women) have a date against Daystar University and NYS on Saturday and NCPB and Amazon on Sunday.
