The church has been lauded for the critical role it plays in supporting the health and education sectors across the country.

Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omolo noted that churches have schools, hospitals and health facilities spread across the country to take care of the welfare of Kenyans.

PS Omollo emphasized that their efforts have significantly complemented government initiatives to strengthen both sectors.

He noted that apart from these, the church has also played a pivotal role in fostering peaceful coexistence through spiritual nourishment and various programs run by different denominations.

"Through teachings, morals and economic empowerment programmes run by the church, a lot of gains have been made in keeping the country secure," he added.

PS Omollo was speaking in Kisumu on Saturday when he joined the clergy and congregants at Migosi SDA Church, for a thanksgiving Sabbath service celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Migosi AYS Alumni.

He assured residents that the government will continue to partner with the church to strengthen various programmes and promote national unity.

He further noted that as the PS in charge of security, part of his work is to keep the country secure and maintain law and order emphasizing that the church has a role to play in that because its teachings complement these efforts.

He noted that they were giving back to the church and also reconvening as those who had been youths in the church, now adults aiming to encourage the younger people to know about the the importance of the church and its potential role in their growth and development.

The PS was accompanied by Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, MPs Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri) and a host of MCA's.
